Begun by Rev. Carolyn Smith Goings, Ph.D., Diverse & United Publishers grew out of an unmet need Rev. Goings uncovered in her search for materials to use in the diverse congregation she and a team were establishing.
To satisfy the need for suitable Bible Study resources and Small Group guides for their new church plant, Dr. Goings began writing materials herself, bringing to the task her thirty years of experience in writing, cross-racial ministries, and diversity advocacy, as well as her academic training, namely a B.A. in English and Secondary Education, an M.F.A. in Writing, M.Div., and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.
In addition to her experiences leading in cross-racial pastorates, Dr. Goings’ background also includes specialized training in chaplaincy and in chaplaincy supervision. She has worked as a chaplain in a number of settings: college campus, prison, long-term care, hospice care, and in a large general hospital where she is currently a CPE Supervisor.
Resources for Diversity, an imprint of Diverse & United Publishers, provides practical, easy-to-use materials applicable to a wide variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, and ministry uses.
