Begun by Rev. Carolyn Smith Goings, Ph.D., Diverse & United Publishers grew out of an unmet need uncovered in her search for materials to use in the diverse congregation she and her team were establishing.
To satisfy the need for suitable Bible Study resources and Small Group guides for their new church plant, Dr. Goings began writing materials herself, bringing to the task her thirty-plus years of experience in writing, cross-racial ministries, and diversity advocacy, as well as her academic training, namely a B.A. in English and Secondary Education, an M.F.A. in Writing, M.Div., and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.
In addition to her experiences leading in cross-racial pastorates, Dr. Goings’ background also includes specialized training in chaplaincy and in chaplaincy supervision. She has worked as a chaplain on a college campus, in prisons, long-term care facilities, hospice care agencies, and in large general hospitals. She now serves as a CPE Supervisor and has established Grateful Heart Counseling @ The Well of Dyersburg where she provides pastoral counseling as she continues in her other callings.
Resources for Diversity, an imprint of Diverse & United Publishers, offers practical, easy-to-use materials applicable to a wide variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, and ministry uses.
